Here's a roundup of all the FREE and cheap summer movie programs and events in the greater Cleveland area this summer.

Regal Cinemas Summer Movie Express
Select theaters offer G or PG movies for only $1/person on Tuesday and Wednesday Mornings at 10am from June 19th through August 15th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Will Rogers Institute. The two participating theaters in the Cleveland area are:

Cleveland Cinemas FREE Summer Kids Fest *NEW* (Thanks, Rochelle!)
Select Cleveland Cinemas locations will be presenting a series of 6 FREE family films this summer. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis. Doors open at 9:30 AM. Films will play at 10AM at these locations on the following weekdays:

Plaza Cinemas at Chapel Hill - Tuesdays
Chagrin Cinemas - Wednesdays
Solon Cinemas - Thursdays
Capitol Theatre - Fridays

Fun films for kids, and all are rated G or PG. Get 10 shows for $5 if purchased in advance or $1/show at the door. Shows are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and start at 9:30am, and they run from June 12 & 13 through August 14 & 15. Local theaters include:

Movies in the Park at Crocker Park
Movies will be shown every Thursday evening at 9pm starting June 7th through August 30th in the West Park, behind Game Stop. Movies will end around 10:30pm. The films will cover all ages and genres. There's something for everyone! And best of all, it's FREE!! Click here for the complete schedule.


Moonlight Movies at Legacy Village
Movies will be shown on the third Wednesday of each month during the summer from 9-11pm on the Lawn (located between Bar Louie and California Pizza Kitchen). They are FREE! The dates for the summer are:
  • June 20th (feature presentation is The Muppets)
  • July 18th
  • August 15th
There will be movie-themed kids activities on the Lawn with Radio Disney from 7-9pm before the movie begins. If the event is cancelled due to weather, it will be rescheduled for June 27th. For more information, click here

"Toad-ally" Awesome Amphibians!

FREE Family Friday Night at the Metroparks

Help kick-off our awesome amphibian weekend with a showing of The Princess and the Frog, a Walt Disney movie on Friday, March 25th from 6-8 p.m. at the North Chagrin Nature Center. This modern day retelling of the classic story The Frog Prince is great for the entire family. Join us to see if waitress Tiana and Prince Naveen break the spell and fulfill their dreams.

The WFamily Charity Movie Series at Southpark Mall

In 2011, Westfield SouthPark will be hosting the WFamily Charity Movie Series at Cinemark Strongsville. A different family friendly movie will be featured the third Saturday of each month at 10am. The cost will be to attend will be $2 per person. As far as movies go, that's pretty close to FREE! Tickets will be available the morning of each show starting at 9 a.m. in front of Cinemark Strongsville.

Watch Ratatouille This Friday Night at JB Booksellers

Join us this Friday, November 19th at 7:00pm for our free monthly family movie night as we snack on popcorn and watch Ratatouille! In this Disney animated movie a rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. Rated G. Movie will be shown in the second floor meeting room at Joseph Beth Booksellers in Legacy Village.

Trick-or-Treating comes early this year at Parmatown Mall! Dress your little monster up to trick-or-treat throughout Parmatown Mall on Friday, October 22 from 6-7 pm. Come early for a costume contest with prizes from 5-6 pm at the main stage. The Rockin Kids Club is unable to perform before mall trick or treating. For Children 10 and under please. Come make a mess at the Garfield Park Nature Center! You can make a jack-o-lantern, painted pumpkin or scarecrow. We will have the leaves (for stuffing), the patterns, paints and safety knives. We will also have samples of pumpkin snacks. You just bring the pumpkin, old clothes and your imagination. Time slots are available every half hour. Featuring trick-or-treating, games and more, the afternoon event is fun for both kids and their four-legged friends at Crocker Park. The Pet Parade begins at 12:30 p.m., and winners are crowned at 1 p.m. Owners may register their costumed pets starting at noon. Registration is $5. All proceeds benefit the Cleveland Animal Protective League.

Fall Fashion & FREE Flick at Southpark Mall

When you spend $200 or more on Fall Fashion starting Thursday, September 9th, you will receive 2 free Cinemark Movie Tickets. Present your same-day receipts and a valid e-mail address to the Shopping Concierge on the Lower Level near JCPenney to receive your free movie tickets. Offer is valid for a limited time. One pair of tickets per customer for total receipts presented. Must be at least 19 years old to participate. Now granted, you have to spend $200 to get the tickets, so this is really only "free" for the people who were going to do that anyways! Enjoy!

Watch a FREE Movie by Moonlight at Legacy Village

Enjoy a movie under the stars on Wednesday, June 23rd from 7-10 pm! Join us on The Lawn at dusk on select Wednesdays in June, July & August for cinema by moonlight. June's feature film is Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (PG) and will begin at dusk. There will also be fun pre-movie activities at The Lawn starting at 7 p.m. in partnership with Joseph-Beth Booksellers! Activities will include a special movie themed craft, Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs Corn Hole, coloring sheets, trivia, raffle, face painting and more! Regal Cinema's FREE Family Film Festival is Coming Soon!

The Regal Entertainment Group has "planned a fun-filled summer of select movies for kids and parents. Regal has proudly offered this free summer fun since 1991. Oh, did we mention that it’s FREE! Selected G or PG movies start at 10:00am every Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. Tickets and seating are first-come, first-served and are limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer. Tickets for our 2010 Free Family Film Festival are exclusively available at select theatres’ box office on the day of the show."

Wade Oval Wednesdays, a Weekly FREE "Party in the Park"
