Farmer's Markets in the Cleveland Area 2012




Farmers markets are FREE to attend, and a lot of them will offer free samples, tastings, demonstrations, and more! Buying local produce is not only better for you but is good for our local farmers and economy, so stop by one close to you! Here's a roundup of the markets in the area I'm aware of (special events are italicized):

Farmers Market at Farmpark
  • Every Wednesday 3-6pm, May 18th-October 12th
  • Located in the Lake Farmpark parking lot in Kirtland
  • Featuring locally grown seasonal produce and products. Click here for a list of items, updated each week, that can be found at the market.

Geauga Fresh Farmers Market
  • Every Saturday 9am-noon, rain or shine, starting May 19th
  • Located at Rt. 306 and Bell St. in South Russell
  • Featuring lots of fresh produce, herbs, flowering plants, honey and maple syrup, handmade soaps and lotions, meat, cheese, kettle corn, jewelry, crafts, and more!

Medina Farmers Market
  • Every Saturday 9am-1pm, June 2nd-October
  • Located in Medina Public Square
  • Featuring fresh flowers, plants, herbs, produce, foccacia, cookies, pies, and more!

North Coast Harbor Farmers Market
  • Every Thursday 11:30am-2:30pm, June 2nd-September 8th
  • Located on the E 9th Street Pier
  • Features produce, cheese, flowers, canned items, jewelry, clothing, cooking demonstrations, and much more!
  • FREE parking


  • Every Tuesday 4-7pm, May 1st-October 30th
  • Located in Lincoln Park in Tremont
  • Featuring eggs, cheese, produce, spices, coffee, tea, honey, meat, bread, salsa, local artisans, musicians, and more!

Halloween at Crocker Park on October 31st

The 2nd Annual Crocker Park Pet Parade and Costume Contest takes place Sunday, October 31 from 12-4pm ~ Featuring trick-or-treating, games and more, the afternoon event is fun for both kids and their four-legged friends. The Pet Parade begins at 12:30 p.m., and winners are crowned at 1 p.m. Owners may register their costumed pets starting at noon. Registration is $5. All proceeds benefit the Cleveland Animal Protective League.

The schedule of events at the Crocker Park Pet Parade and Costume Contest is as follows:
12 p.m. Registration for participating costumed pets
12:30 p.m. Pet Costume Parade
1 p.m. Contest awards
2:00-4:00 p.m. Trick-or-Treating (at participating stores)
Brain Drain Prize Game (at Learning Express Toys)

Calling All Dog Lovers: Catch the Spooky Pooch Parade in Lakewood

Spooky Pooch Parade is back again, and will be held Saturday October 16th, 2010 in Downtown Lakewood on Detroit Avenue. Dress up your pooch, grab your leash and attend the only event of this kind in our area. We’re not sure who has more fun, the dogs or the people watching! V107.3, Cleveland’s newest radio station is a proud sponsor of Spooky Pooch this year. Spooky Pooch Parade will step off at 2:00PM from the corner of Detroit and St. Charles Avenues in Downtown Lakewood. If you want to march in the parade with your pooch, you will have to pay a fee for your dog, but humans are FREE. :) See the website for more details, and enjoy!

Come make a mess at the Garfield Park Nature Center! You can make a jack-o-lantern, painted pumpkin or scarecrow. We will have the leaves (for stuffing), the patterns, paints and safety knives. We will also have samples of pumpkin snacks. You just bring the pumpkin, old clothes and your imagination. Time slots are available every half hour. Fall Foilage Fest at Mapleside Farms

Meet an Animal at the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center

Big, Creepy, and Hairy! Sounds like the makings of a monster movie. This program will focus on the often-misunderstood Tarantula and conclude with an opportunity to have it crawl across your hands and to look into its eyes…all eight of them!

Target First FREE Thursdays at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Through Thursday, March 3, 2011, visitors to The Cleveland Museum of Natural History will enjoy FREE admission on the first Thursday of each month. Bay Village Bicentennial on 10/10/10

A full weekend of FREE activities has been planned to celebrate Bay Village's 200th anniversary, the weekend of October 10, or "10.10.10." Mark your calendar for the "Family Fun Day" in Cahoon Memorial Park on Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (food, games, demonstrations and children's activities in Cahoon Memorial Park all day, plus encampment groups with demonstrations and re-enactments in the Cahoon Creek valley), and Sunday, October 10, for the grand parade and official "Lighting of Bay" ceremonies from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be continuous FREE trolley shuttle service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Cahoon Memorial Park to activities at the library, BAYarts, Lake Erie Nature & Science enter and Lakeside Cemetery.
